POEM - You Are

You are the Alpha
All things are found in You
All creation is Yours
From the birds of highest Heaven
To the worms of the earth beneath
Whales in the oceans deep
Sing of Your goodness
You’re in the air we breathe
The water we drink is filled
With Your love and care
You are Alpha, that beginning

You are the Promise
Made to our far Father
Abraham and his wife Sarah
Our lives are counted as the stars
Of Heaven above
The vision he saw in You fulfilled
So great is Your faithfulness
To those who seek you
With obedient hearts and open souls
You are that Promise

You are the Vision
Given to Prophets and Kings
Their words written down
For future generations to keep
Your Spirit kept alive
That dream within their hearts
It wasn’t a mirage of false pretences
This was a dream that lasted centuries
Passed from Father to Son,
From Mother to Daughter
The hope of a million hearts
You are that Vision

You are the Star
Shining brightest in Heaven
Leading Kings and Shepherds
To the place of Your birth
Though humble and lowly
Your manger became a throne
For the King and Shepherd
Of all mankind, past and present
History was re-written at Your birth
Blessed was the night of your arrival
You are that Star

In every day of our lives,
You are Alpha, that beginning,
God’s Promise kept
The Vision that has come to pass
The Star shining brightly in our hearts
Your death was the beginning of our salvation
Your resurrection, our victory
You are Jesus, our miracle
Our Saviour and Lord
The reason for our celebration
