Sex equals Trust

Well, I was watching Australia Network and there was this short documentary on Trust and how there’s this guy who wants to find out what it is that makes us trust each other as human beings. Apparently it’s to do with a chemical in our body that is released when we experience an orgasm during sex. For pregnant women, it comes out in tremendous amounts when they are giving birth. But what got to me was what the narrator on the documentary was saying: “Sex is the ultimate form of trust,” that is really interesting to me.

I mean it’s not often that you hear that when you have sex it is reflected as trust. But when you think about it, sex is about trust. I mean, of course there are other things that matter but when it’s to do with your first time it’s all about trust.

Let’s say guy and girl want to get their freak on, guy’s experienced but girl is total virgin. She has to trust him in order to let him ‘crack’ her so to speak. Or even vice-versa. Trust is a major factor that decides if you’re having sex or if you’re being raped. In the cases of an older more mature person sleeping with a younger guy/girl, trust comes up again. Consensual/consenting sex is what happens between two people who are willing to express their love in a physical way, they trust each other.

When parents or older family members have sexual intercourse with younger members against their will, it’s a big violation of their trust. Incest is downright wrong but who are we to stop it when it occurs between consenting people. They trust each other. Society’s moral values need to be re-evaluated. Gone are the days when gay relationships were considered taboo. Nowadays, gay people can walk in public holding hands and kissing, the stigma of taboo-ism is slowly drifting away and a new age of thinking is coming out.

But then there’s the age-old theology from religion that forbids all manners of sex unless it’s between a man and woman and in the frame of marriage. Is our society turning into a reflection of biblical Sodom and Gomorrah? Its society was steeped in sexual activities of all kinds and its social hierarchy was rotten to the core. I would say yes, we are slowly coming to that point but isn’t that the price we paid for democracy and free speech and all those other things advocated for in the Bill of Rights?

So, to close my train of thought from moving any further into philosophical gibberish, I’ll just stay on that one quote, “Sex is the ultimate form of trust”.

SEX = TRUST (ain’t nothing else can beat that… but that’s debatable)
