One down - Four left to go

I had my first paper yesterday; ED 186 (music). It was okay except for a few oddities in my answering. I looked the paper over and I thought to myself “hmm, I can do this!” so I went ahead and did it. I finished the whole paper in like 20 minutes and the whole exam was an hour so I figured that I had like a lot more time left to check my answers through. When I looked at the section on writing out my scales, I saw that I had misread the question and my answer was completely wrong.

Lucky for me, I had written my answer in pencil (which you need for your music class). Immediately I began erasing all my answers and proceeded to re-write them in the correct form. My mistake if you were wondering was writing my scales in ASCENDING form when I should have written them in DESCENDING form. So much for my wanting to be amazing!

So that’s one paper down, four more exams left to go through. The suspense is killing me… lol…

My next exam is a performance assessment next week Monday. I need to sing a Fijian song, a very popular one in fact: ‘Isa Lei’. I need to study the words and tune for next week and just hope for the best. My next paper is on Wednesday (7th), it’s my HP 102 (History) paper. I’m also gonna hope for the best for that one (^_^).

My journalism paper is on Friday (10th) and my last paper is my politics 101 exam which is on the following Monday (13th). After that I’m as free as a bird in a cage. What you thought I’d be free as a bird in the wild… please, I have work to do with the preparation for Kaivata and the whole production thing. There’s so much to do and so little time to get through it. All I can do is cross my fingers and pray for the best (hmm, just how many times have I said that exactly?)

There’s only so much I can study and actually remember. But until then I’ll just keep my chin up and look up to Heaven for guidance and help.

My Weekend

So here I am, once again, blogging from home. But then you will never know cause how can on be sure about where one is doing something from? Nah, I’m just playing with your mind. I am blogging from home; you just have to take my word for it.

Well, it was an uneventful weekend for us here at home and I hope it stays like that. I just got a text from Nishitech (Ltd) and they have a new deal on their 1GB USB flash drives. The going price now is $53- and I am dying to get my hands on one. Graham is telling me that I can’t ask Dad for it coz dad’s paying for stuff from Courts and stuff like that and asking mum for it is totally out of the question. The only option left to me is for me to get Kali to buy one and I’ll share it with him until his next pay day when he can buy a newer one and we’ll debate as to who’ll keep the new one.

Besides all that, we had our third round of dance practice for the production and although we didn’t have a big turn out, we still went ahead with it. We worked through ‘I fix my eyes’ and a short run of ‘Complete’ then I started working with the girls on ‘The Lord is my light’. We’re on good time and I can’t wait to get really in-depth with all the songs once I complete my exams.

Speaking of exams, next week is study week and I don’t think you can comprehend the deep feelings of anxiety that’s welling up in me right now. My eyes get sore when I look at my course reader and I’m getting headaches every time I see the highlighter marks all over my notes. But there is one thing that I am sure of; and it’s that when I finish my final paper – I will scream for joy and run out of the exam hall shouting “THANK YOU JESUS!”… jokes… no I don’t think I will scream but I will be so happy that nothing can ever get me down; except maybe if I trip or something, knowing me that’s most likely to happen. Lol!

But until then, I will take it one step at a time and just believe that God will help and guide me through it all.

Madea speaks about life

This has one really powerful and insightful message. Check it!

MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE

Well, here I go again. Blogging from home, when I should be doing this live on the net. But then, I realise it’s much easier for me to do this at home, cause I can recollect my thoughts and put them on paper. That and the fact that I have assignments and stories to work on while in Uni.

Changed the URL for my blog instead of aieezgsha I changed it to syisanangel. I made like 5 template changes before I settled on this one. I can terribly picky sometimes heh?

Anyways! We had our last class for the semester and for this year yesterday (our Journalism class that is!) and next week is study break for all of us. Our lecturer wants us to complete our assignments by Friday and hand it in to the secretaries at S.L.A.M. (School of Language, Art and Media). Besides that we also need to hand in our 5 court stories and 5 best stories of the semester. I’ve got so much to do before Friday!

I’ve gone through ¾ of my assignment, all I need to do is complete my overview and write up a balanced report. Then I have to work out my 5 best stories of the semester (wow… not!). Gosh, I have no idea which of my stories I should hand in. our attendance covers 15% (if my guess is correct) of our total mark. I’m happy that I’ve attended all my lectures and field trips. I only have problems with our Friday Forum attendance because they have it at the same time with my Politics lecture. Very awkward indeed!

Speaking about my politics class, I’m very, very nervous about my exam paper. The nerve wracking thing about it is that because I have Friday Forum at the times of my lecture, I missed out on a lot of notes. To top things off, I lost my course reader towards the middle of the semester and I only just got a new copy of it last month. I’m out of touch with the whole course reader. I need to meet with some friends to discuss the exam paper next week.

And in between the whole exam nerves thing, is my newly acquired taste of music. I am right now into remakes of Disney classic songs like “You’ll be in my heart” from Tarzan (Usher did an awesome remake of the song). I remember watching Tarzan when it premiered in Malaysia. Our school sold tickets and we bought out the whole cinema complex for that night. It was amazing and totally fun!

It’ll take a lot to calm my nerves at this point but I’ll do anything to calm them just so I can get a decent night’s sleep.

Did you know?

well, i don't think you know but i have 2 other blogs they are: Mirage and Malaga: The Journey. Just click on the links and check them out!

My family album

Poem - AN ODE TO ME

The past year for me
Was of much sorrow and pain
Experiences I gathered
Lessons learnt
Memories I constantly relive
Unable to let them go
For fear of losing myself
My identity
Me.

This year
I was never prepared for University
Its influence on me was mind-boggling
Things I never considered doing
I now do.
I had never imagined the change
It had on my lifestyle
My choices
Me.

But as the year draws to an end
I look back and see
The silver lining
Laid out through my dark clouds
New friendships I made
Old friends renewed
A family to whom I can relate
People who were that little ray of hope
Constantly pushing me forward
To better myself
Recreate my life
And be true to the person
Within:

Me.

GATHERING MY THOUGHTS

This is something really interesting for me. Though you may not know this, I’m actually writing this at home. Do note that I do not have internet access at home so most of my posts are from school. Sometimes I don’t have the time to write a full blog, there’s always something for me to do. Blogging has become one of my favourite pastimes.

So today, I’ve decided to type up my posts at home and then save it on my 128MB flash drive and upload it on Blogger.

Things in school have been sort of hectic for me. I’m still worried about my exam papers. I don’t feel prepared despite all my studying and group work. I’ve taken to looking at my course readers and trying to analyse my tutorial questions. My lecturer said that most of our exam questions will come from our tutorial work so I’m looking at those questions again.

I haven’t attended many of my lectures these past weeks and it’s beginning to take its toll in my work. I keep looking at the class shares for any new posts by our lecturer. This week I plan on downloading everything from our class shares and using it for study week, which I just realised is next week! Ohmigod, that means that exams are just the week after.

//brain spam: aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
//edit
//brain spam ended

But the upside to it all is the fact that my last paper is on Monday 13 November, and that means that my holidays begin much earlier. Yay! Then the question I ask next is, what am I gonna do on my summer break while I wait for next year.

In the mean time, I’m working now with Kali and Leiby on the Throne Room production. We’re leading up to our third practice and this week I’m gonna teach the dancers two new songs. The girls are gonna do “The Lord is my Light” by Adeaze and the boys will work on “Imagine” by Mercy Me.

All in all, I’m doing pretty well. I’m very nervous about the whole exam thingy but I’ll deal with it when it comes. As for now, all I can do is study my hardest and pray for the best.

Memo to self: ~ do this again tomorrow!

Old friends

Well, i never got to explain just how I got to join blogger and start blogging. It all began with my need to reconnect with my old friends from Malaysia. I always wanted to find out what they were up to and where they had gone, what they were studying and if any were in my sphere of the world. As it so happened i did find them and immediately began establishing contact. They were all blogging and so i decided to join in. Here's the blogs of my old friends now renewed:

Sing Jiat
Barney Ong
Gabriel Lu
Siang Sung
Melvin Chin
Lily Chan

Those are just some of the blogs of some of my friends. I'm also gonna include the link of my former school in Kuching:

Lodge School

I feel so disconnected from my friends but i hope that some day i might be able to go back to Kuching and see them all again! Fingers crossed!

STORM RIDERS - ANIMATED MOVIE SHORT

STORM RIDERS

Here's the poster of the movie that i think was the best ever:

The story goes that the evil Lord Conquer, head of Conqueror's Clan, is given a prophecy from a prophet named Mud Buddha. It is said that if Conquer finds two young children by the name of Wind and Cloud he will have good fortune. Mud Buddha tells Conquer to look for him 10 years later so that he can tell the rest of Conqueror's fortune. Conquer issues an order that every boy with a birth chart matching Wind's or Cloud's must become a disciple of the Conqueror's Clan. Both Wind and Cloud are found, and Lord Conquer's servants murder their respective parents.

Ten years pass, and Wind and Cloud are now both fully-grown and highly-skilled martial artists. Lord Conquer raised them as his own children. He is angered by the disappearance of Mud Buddha and sends his men to find him. After Mud Buddha is found, he reveals that his two disciples will either join or destroy Conquer.

Seeing that Wind and Cloud can lead to misfortune, Lord Conquer uses his daughter, Charity, to cause Wind and Cloud to fight each other. There was a love triangle involving Wind, Cloud, and Charity. Lord Conquer tried to kill Wind and Cloud in their duel, but killed his own daughter instead when she tried to protect Wind and Cloud.

Wind and Cloud then work together to destroy Lord Conquer. Together, they defeat the evil warlord, finally exacting their revenge.

Apparently it's based on a comic called Fung Wan:

This is one awesome movie and if i had the chance to get a copy of it, i wouldn't share it with anyone for all the money in the world!

Desperate!!

OHMIGOD, i am in desperate need of some good kung fu movies... i did a whole weekend of classic chinese flicks last month, that same craving has come back to me now.

the only problem about the movies i saw last month, was that the audio was dubbed by actors in hong kong. it was a major turn off... i mean like, you want to watch some classic chinese movie with chinese audio and english subs but no, you get stupid english dubs that sound so fake!

i remember seeing this one sometime last month, can't exactly remember but i do know that it was a good rendition of jackie's classic. then there's my fav actor:

Jet Li is one of my fav chinese actors... not because he made it into movies that are popular from Hollywood but also movies that are considered vintage chinese classics.

Aimless once again!

So here i am, once again on a long and almost boring wednesday killing time till my next lecture (which is at four).... damn, i just realised that we only have three weeks of school left (counting this one). exams are after that and following that i'm on xmas break...

hmm.... speaking about christmas, what do you think about me getting this design for a tattoo on my lower back:

i've been meaning to get a tattoo and it's either one of the two above or this one:

Then of course there's my need for an ipod... hopefully i get one next year. At the same time i'm aiming to get a hold of either 1,2 or 4GB flashdrive for my school and personal stuff. here's a pic of the ipod (one of them) that i'm aiming to get a hold of:

it's the IPOD video and it comes in varying degrees of memory - i'm aiming for 60GB... is that too much to ask. you may ask: why does he need 60 GB of memory? well, it's all in the imagination and the possibilities that come with the territory.

I'm seriously hungry right now and i could sure go for one of these:

or even this:

i can get packs of mac and cheese from the local supermarket... laksa is a dish that i had to leave behind in m'sia. too bad.....

so i'm off to lunch (one parcel of roti & curry) and then kill time in aimless park till my lecture (at 4)

^j^ ciao! ^j^

Idiot number 3

so i left a comment on that last post and i wonder if the dude "MARK" (his name) will leave comments on mine.... or he might even create a post about me! hahahahahahahahahahaha......... just try it mate!

Idiot #2

OHMIGOD! that same idiot actually almost took offence at the comment! see here

Some random idiot

okay, so like i was blog hopping and i stumbled on this one blog created by what i could only call an idiot! He calls for people to boycott Fiji Water and the only thing i found interesting about it is the fact he uses Fiji Water and there was this totally cool comment from a person who i could only guess was Fijian... and the idiot actually had the brilliant idea of approving that comment... you need to see it for yourself. Click Here

Weather man versus Cockroach

Apparently this was voted the funniest video last week by Youtube users..... i think it's crazy hilarious... check it:

NEWS BLOG

For those of you who read up on Fiji, here's this blog i found off from Jeremie (our AYAD rep to Radio Pasifik). check it out!

Movies i watched over the weekend

I was completely aimless yesterday so i decided to watch a movie. I looked in Kali's bag and found Jerry Maguire, the one starring Tom Cruise.

Now the funny thing about me and this movie is that i never got to finish watching it. no matter how many times i watch it, i never "NEVER!" finish it. for some obscure reason or rather....

All in all, i think it's an "okay" movie. When you get rid of all the sex and foul language, it does have quite a meaningful lesson, if you can find it. but for me i'm still clueless what that hidden message is. lol....

WANSOLWARA 10TH ANNIVERSARY

well, today is Wansolwara's tenth anniversary for the ten years it's been published. we're having like a major party in the newsroom with all the mainstream media agencies and tv station. we've also invited our alumni to be present and our chief guests are the first student editors of the paper in 1996. at the moment we're decorating the newsroom with streamers and balloons... i made chocolate truffles for the party tonight. everyone else will be bringing pizza, cakes, pies, juice and chips galore!!!!

i am so stuffing myself tonight~!

I'm actually quite privelleged to be a part of this amazing team... the editors and fellow reporters are fun and it's a great feeling for me to write a story and have it published in a newspaper that will be read by people all over the pacific and all over the world.

Big kudos to everyone, including me **self pat on the back** and i wish Wansolwara all the best for the future. i am reminded by what Stanley Simpson, our first editor said about how he expected the paper to have evolved over the past ten years. My guess is that our challenge is to revamp the paper and show the world just what the Journalism Dept is capable of.

~HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY TO WANSOLWARA!!~
